Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko’s bad record regarding the Tokyo Olympics is not only related to the expulsion of runner Krystsina Tsimanouskaya (Kristina Timanovskaya). He also had problems with the International Olympic Committee (KOI) which resulted in him not being accepted into any Tokyo Olympic events.
KOI made the decision in December 2020. KOI President Thomas Bach thought that Lukashenko did not protect his athletes from political discrimination, and even participated in the persecution. Ironically, said Bach, Lukashenko is also a managing officer of the Belarusian National Olympic Committee headed by his son.
